ABOUT ALICIA

Did you ever daydream as a child?  One of the favorite past times in my hometown, Bessemer, Alabama near Birmingham, was going on fishing trips to Pensacola, Florida.  I remember people in the community talking about the fun they had and showing or bragging about the fish they caught.  Then came the big fish fries!  Being curious, I always wanted to go.  They told me I  was a girl and too young.  Well, guess what? I finally learned to fish at age 60; I have even fished in the Gulf of Mexico near Pensacola, thanks to a very patient friend of mine.  One on my childhood dreams has come true.  Brlo you see pictures of the marina and a restaurant in Pensacola.

I began learning to play the piano at age 11 and the organ at age 15.  My music teacher taught at the high school I attended, so quite naturally I became one of the choral accompanists.  In college I used my musical skills playing at chapel and at other college activities. Of course I was a member of the concert choir. Throughout the years, I played at several churches in Alabama and Georgia; these include Saint Paul C.M. E. Church and Canaan Baptist Church in Bessemer and Shy Temple C. M. E. Church and Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. I am one of two musicians who provide the music at my annual paternal family reunion. The pictures below were taken at the 2007 family reunion.

I have two sons and four teenage grandchildren.  I have been a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church since July 1970, which was shortly after I relocated to Georgia. In addition, I am also active in the Elon Farms Association and the secretary, the Clayton County Wide Home Owners Association and the Miles College Alumni Association Atlanta Chapter. Below you see Edwin, Jasmine, Charles and Dominique.

My second dream was to become a teacher. As a little girl, I taught my dolls on the side of the house until I outgrew them.  Then I focused my attention on completing high school.  I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miles College and the Master of Education in English Education and Education Leadership for Supervision in English from Georgia State University . My career began in in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education and ended with the Atlanta Public Schools at G. W. Carver Comprehensive High School in Atlanta, Georgia.  My career spanned 32+ years as a Language Arts teacher with the last fifteen years of my career also being the Language Arts Department Chairperson.

Then my career shifted.  The year before retirement, I decided to get a Real Estate license. And yes, teaching  and a thirst for education are still a part of me.  I keep abreast of current trends and practices in real estate. I have completed the Floyd Wickman Course, the EPro Technology Certification Program and certification for CGRN Relocation Director as well as numerous other courses.  I frequently find myself helping my co-workers become more proficient in the use of software and in navigating the websites at my office, Century 21 South Pointe Realty, Inc. The picture below was taken at a Housing Fair at one of the local malls.

Did you know that I have  a new title now?  My office associates, family and friends have named me the "Human GPS" (Global Positioning System).  Approximately 20 years ago, I found myself becoming interested in how to navigage the streets, highways and interstates without looking at maps or other aids. The key was to find more than one route to my destination. What started out as an interest developed into a serious hobby. Now whenever those close to me need directions or get lost, the call me. I can quickly guide them to their destinations. I love it, and yes, that carries me back to my favorite thing - helping and instructing others. By the way, because of this hobby, I have a very nice collection of city and county maps.

Now that I have sufficiently introduced myseld, I hope you feel comfortable enough to consider me as your real estate agent. I know that it is extremely important to have confidence in the person you will entrust with the task of helping you make one of the most important decisions in your life - purchasing or selling real estate.  As a committed agent, I offer both buyers and sellers the best of my skills - my professional training, my active listening skills and my excellent communication skills. I am honest and fair; I will work tirelessly to help you achieve your real estate goals. You are my top priority!

Thank you for visiting my website where buyers and sellers can find advice for buying and selling a home.  I have included other content that interests all age groups and genders.  Feel free to contact me with any questions you have. I am here for you!
